Alice has been playing the violin since she was seven years old. She initially studied classical violin with 2 members of the Pittsburgh Symphony. In the 1990s, her violin turned into a fiddle and it has remained that way ever since. She is an accomplished and high-energy fiddler of Bluegrass, Ragtime, Scottish, Old-Timey, Irish, Klezmir, and French Canadian music. In June of 2017, she moved from New York back to her home town of Pittsburgh. While she was in New York, she was a member of the Risky Business Bluegrass Band, the Bossy Frog Children’s Band, the Cameron Scottish Musicians, and the CrossStitch Folk Duo. Alice feels that learning any instrument should be a combination of hard work and lots of fun. Her teaching style is based on each individual student's interests. Alice has a Masters Degree in Education from Pace University in New York. She is an active member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and ASTA (American String Teachers Association). Alice has been teaching violin, fiddle, piano, viola, and folk guitar to adults and children for the past 10 years.
